I started my company in 1999 without a clue what I was doing. I only knew that I had a valuable retail business idea that would work if I could find a way to get it out to the masses. After a few years I came to realize that I had a gift for marketing. It came from competitors saying to me things like, “You’re everywhere!” or “I trip on your company out there! How do you do it?” I even had huge companies like PWII offer to fly me to their headquarters to teach their entire staff what I knew. It was mind-blowing and it was then that I carved out a branch of my company where I would consult other businesses and share my knowledge on how to optimize their websites, get more traffic, and teach them how to navigate the social media waters as well as other tricks of the trade that took me years to acquire. I would later expand RVA Marketing to include promotional branding products since we were already providing branding for music clients.
A little about my umbrella company, Drum Bum, Inc. First off, I’m a professional drummer by trade (hence the name). It started as a retail business selling music gifts in 1999 and expanded from there. We’ve employed numerous, wonderful people over a 23 year span. We hired customer service reps, bookkeepers, project managers and development teams. We built several online stores and even an online mall. We built marketing portals and content networks. We created designs and logos and branding and sold promotional products to Fortune 500 companies. We’ve had our products on TV shows, in movies, and bought by many famous people around the world. We’ve sponsored national artists. We’ve had write ups in magazines and newspapers. And to this day, we still cross paths with major brands who either come back again to order or who find us online or through a referral, and decide to place their trust in us.
It all came from marketing. I have felt all along that, if I had not had this ability to market my brand and my products that I would not have been successful. There is an old saying; “Build it and they will come”. But I’m here to tell you folks, it’s not quite that simple. It takes only days to build the most beautiful, extravagant website but what happens after that is, it sits there looking pretty, among millions of other websites, with no customers. Unless you can get the traffic, you will remain stagnant.
You have to get out front. You have to be seen. There’s another old saying; “Out of sight, out of mind”. If they can’t see you, they will not think of you or buy from you. You have to figure out the marketing angle.
I can help you get seen. This is what I do. I have been practicing online and offline marketing for a very long time. I eat, sleep, breath and study marketing on a daily basis. It is a passion of mine and I love coaching others.
